Family of Frederick Shore (bap. 1731-d. ca. 1818), son of Friedrich Schorr and Margreth Schneider, who was baptized in Muttenz, Switzerland, and died in Surry Co., North Carolina. He was married to Barbara Ries (d. ca. 1820), daughter of John Jacob Ries. Descendants live in North Carolina and elsewhere. Includes descendants of Simon Gross, an early settler of Rowan (then Surry, now Yadkin) County, N.C., who came to Philadelphia with his brother, Theobald, in 1741. He married Dorothea in Philadephia ca. 1741. She died 1744. He married (2) Veronica Mayer ca. 1745. Includes the Clanton family originally of Virginia.
