What Welcome?

Michal Levin
4.9/5 (31828 ratings)
Description:This book examines the reception, resettlement and integration programmes for refugees in the UK. It concentrates on the policies and programmes of the voluntary agencies who administer the programmes as well as their relationship with the British government. After a brief description of official policy on refugee admissions, 14 refugee-assisting organizations are described. There is a historical survey of refugee resettlement since 1945, covering Polish, Hungarian, Ugandan Asian and Chilean refugees. The main part of the book is devoted to the resettlement of Vietnamese refugees, which is carried out by three agencies: British Council for Aid to Refugees (BCAR), Save the Children Fund and the Ockenden Venture. The programme is funded by the British government and is coordinated by the Joint Committee for Refugees from Vietnam, comprising the three agencies and a government representative. There is a detailed description of the policies, programmes, staff and support groups of the three agencies. Also noted is that the two refugee coordinating bodies, BCAR and the Standing Conference on Refugees, merged to form the British Refugee Council (BRC) in early 1982.We have made it easy for you to find a PDF Ebooks without any digging.
