Description:Destiny, a venture which spans over 50 Earth years began near the end of the 21st century, encompasses intrigue, romance and danger. The Earth was rapidly running out of natural resources; its population was exploding leaving humankind with a sense of hopelessness. The World was enmeshed in the lengthy process of attempting to recover from an economic collapse and the devastation of a recent multinational war. A small number of large world corporations survived with the financial backing of ‘The Committee’, a powerful clandestine financial group of forward thinking individuals which now controlled the world’s economy. An environmental group, the EA, determined to rescue humanity by destroying these corporations, was involved in brainwashing and organizing the masses. Recognizing the immediate need to counter the EA’s strategies and to develop a plan for human survival, The Committee chose an upward-bound individual, who was working for a major human resource conglomerate, to select and train a team of highly intelligent young men and women. This enterprise began a monumental venture to explore and establish a human colony beyond our solar system with the purpose of securing the future of civilization. After many questions and concerns, Grant Wickham, accepted the challenge with one stipulation; that Alexis Lambert, a colleague and former college sweetheart, could be his partner. Under the guidelines of The Committee, these two diligent and motivated collaborators developed an extensive selection criterion. This specially selected team received extensive academic and technical training, which would facilitate in the success of their mission. Eric Deville, the chosen team commander, would lead the group on their journey into uncharted space, assisted by ‘Albert’, a state-of-the-art supercomputer that navigated the ship and aided in keeping the team out of danger. They would face many challenges and demands that threatened the success of their mission, causing Eric and the team to doubt the completion of their objective! The Crew: Eric Deville, a somewhat boastful, however bright and caring young man with strong leadership abilities, led the team of eight in their thirty-year voyage in reaching the new world. He showed great awareness in recognizing a problem and solving it in a timely manner. Mirjam Wadekar Deville became Eric’s wife and soon found herself assuming the role of ‘mentor’ to members of the crew. Being one of two doctors who were onboard Destiny, her dedicated expertise was very valuable during several unexpected accidents and other health-related concerns. Fabian Granville, Eric’s second-in-command and confidant during the long journey was often his sounding board when things got hairy. Their efficiency was valuable in solving engineering questions which arose in conquering unchartered space. Rachael Lebedev Granville was a dedicated pharmacology expert who experienced a harrowing incident which left her with psychological scars and hampered her effectiveness during her training period. Fabian proved his love for her during this stressful time. Makoto Saito was a quiet, well-built gymnastic and a geologist who commanded the first landing party on Kairos. The discoveries that he made during this first venture began the ongoing research and development of the physical planet. Gabriele Morgan was Makoto’s love interest and partner who was the ship’s pediatrician and neurologist. She and Mirjam were responsible for the health and well-being of the entire crew. Jabbar Bishana, biochemist and pharmacist, along with Rachael, derived the medical compounds from plants grown on Destiny.
