Description:Sons of Asclepius is the first published biography of an extraordinary Australian intellectual and surgeon,Dr Anthony (Tony) Parker. After a stellar beginning, life in his middle years was neither as he wished it, nor expected it to be. He was unfairly dismissed from his hospital post of some sixteen proven years and was never told the grounds for this action. These grounds, from my research, were most likely, at best misconceived. He died in 1973 at just fifty-two years, shortly after the dismissal and from what was reported as something resembling a heart attack. In my view as his biographer, protege and de facto literary executor; the death was more likely caused by the cruel nature and distress of the dismissal. The inquest was abandoned and no post mortem was performed, so we will never know the actual causes of death. At best, I lean to what the American Heart Association later termed "Broken Heart Syndrome".
