It seemed a matter of serious regret, that so rich a treasure of heavenly things, in which every true disciple of Jesus may find instruction worthy his attention, should not be appropriated to general use. These discourses cannot have a higher recommendation than their own intrinsic merits. To praise them simply, would not be doing them justice; for, in general, whether the style or subject matter be taken into consideration, every candid critic will allow, that they must have been the efforts of a Christian and a scholar, of no common attainments.
