Description:Originally a volunteer Advertising Committee extolled the virtues of the Isle of Man as a holiday resort as the Governor of the island deemed advertising to be beneath the dignity of the island's ancient heritage'!But in 1894 the island parliament, the Tynwald, set aside a sum of money for the purpose and a Board of Advertising was set up. This was successful and in 1931 it was renamed the Publicity Board until, in 1952 the Isle of Man Tourist Board was created.
