From 1997–2001 he was the Secretary of the International Association of Geomorphologists (IAG) and was IAG Vice-President from 2009 to 2013. His publications include Geomorphological Landscapes of the World (2010), Granite Landscapes of the World (2006), the Encyclopedia of Geomorphology (co-editor, 2004) and many papers in peer-reviewed international journals.
