It's a New Day, Every Ten Minutes!: A Care Giver Guide with New Ideas to Help Your Loved One & You Cope with Alzheimer!

Description:Alzheimer has effected millions of Americans and their families. According to the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Alzheimer; “is the sixth leading cause of death in America” and has effected over 5 million Americans. The number of people facing the challenges of the disease “has doubled since 1980, and is expected to be as high as 16 million by 2050 (CDC.gov, Retrieved, 2013).” Alzheimer effects not only the person diagnosed with the illness. Family members struggle vigorously to keep their Loved One safe in their homes to take care of them. In the meantime, they become distraught because of seeing how the ailment diminishes their Loved One’s day-to-day abilities and their reasoning capabilities. This book is written in hope of helping family members who are tasked with watching their adored family member’s mental ability weaken right before their eyes. The puzzling display of memory loss, cognitive ability, general conversation, repeated behaviors, and forgetfulness is a daunting task to deal with on an everyday basis for them. Sadly, more often than not, tempers are lost and Caregivers become exhausted. Some wind up depressed themselves, and discouraged. Out of desperation, many give up hope and wind up institutionalizing their Loved One. Fortunately, there are developments in the medical community which may lead to distribution of new medications. Medical professionals are working daily to try to find solutions to control the ailment but there is no known cure. In the midst of the medical community trying to find a cure, I became a Caregiver to my two elderly parents in 2009. My parents are 88 and 89 years old. One of them had been diagnosed with Alzheimer in 2000. Through observational learning and researching Alzheimer, I found what I believe are some thoughtful solutions which may be helpful toward understanding the illness, ending the repetitive nature of the illness, reviving their dignity, and a way which may help the medical community find some answers toward a cure. This book is written with a kindhearted candidness and at times, with a humorous approach. This is not to make light of the ailment itself but a way to help both the Caregiver and person with the illness cope in the daily routines of life. I believe this book will provide a way for family members to keep their Loved One at home in their family environment for a longer period of time. I also believe it can spark a ray of light into the shadows of those stricken with Alzheimer and an avenue of hope for their families to survive. Sadly, there is not a cure, but there is a methodology which can be used to deter some of the behaviors associated with Alzheimer. We have made it easy for you to find a PDF Ebooks without any digging.
