Description:Bihari Lal Bihari Lal was a Hindi poet, who is famous for writing the Satasaī (Seven Hundred Verses) in Brajbhasha. This collection is one the most celebrated works of Hindi poetry, and is often considered the most well known book of the Ritikavya Kaa. The couplets are inspired by the Krishna side of Vishnu-worship. Many of the couplets take the shape of amorous declarations of Radha, the chief of the Gopis, and her divine lover, Krishna. Each couplet is independent and complete in itself. The couplets, in their collected form, are arranged, not in any sequence of narrative or dialogue, but according to the technical classification of the sentiments which they convey as set forth in the treatises on Indian rhetoric. Early in his life, Bihari Lal studied ancient Sanskrit texts. In Orchha state, he met the famous poet Keshavdas from whom he took lessons in poetry. Later, Bihari Lal presented his work before the court of visiting Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. Impressed by his work, Shah Jahan invited Bihari Lal to the capital of his empire. Once at Agra, Bihari Lal learned the Persian language and was introduced to Rahim, another famous poet. It was also at Agra that Bihari Lal was able to present his work to Raja Jai Singh I of Amber.
