Ci si è dunque orientati su una ben ragionata esposizione che segnalasse l’importanza dell’argomento, puntando in particolare sul gioco di sorte e di fortuna, tenendo conto di come l’azzardo oggi e da sempre sia l’aspetto della ludicità più in evidenza per le sue ricadute anche finanziarie e i molti rischi che lo accompagnano. In modo serio e insieme chiaro e non sgradevole si è voluto seguire un lungo percorso che giunge fino a oggi. Questo parziale catalogo ne vuole conservare gli elementi di fondo. È la testimonianza di quel trentennale impegno di ricerca attestato dalla rivista «Ludica» che si pubblica dal 1995 e della quale la mostra è del resto un concreto risultato.Some anniversaries deserve to be celebrated. So it seemed apt that thirty years of sustained commitment by the Fondazione Benetton Studi Ricerche to studies in ludicity and the history of games and gaming should occasion a significant mark of recognition. We decided that this should take the form of a carefully planned exhibition that would convey the importance of the subject, focussing in particular on games of chance, given that gambling has always been the most noteworthy aspect of ludicity because of the many risks associated with its financial implications. We set out too to make the survey serious, clear and accessible, with coverage that brought it right up to the present day.
