Chief Okorie sponsored the first man from his village of Umuduru, Mbieri to leave Nigeria for further studies in the USA in 1963. In subsequent years, he facilitated the immigration to America of several members of the large Mbieri USA community. He has been substantially involved in electrification projects, road paving, and the building of a new Catholic church for his people.
