The kidney had, then, excreted some gelatine and reduced soluble Prussianblue, provingthatthesesubstanceshadtravelledfromtho bloodcapillariestotheureterandinthepessagehadbeenreduced bythestilllivingrenelepithelium. Butaftcratimeitwasnoticed thattheoutﬂowfromtheureterhadbecomeblue. thekidneycells hadbecomepoisonedandsonolongerabletocarryontheirvital reduction.
