Al-Islah (Lahore) Historic Weekly Urdu Newspaper: March - April, 1936

Nasim Yousaf
4.9/5 (27144 ratings)
Description:Al-Islah was launched in 1934 in British India by Allama Mashriqi (Founder of the Khaksar Tehrik). The journal quickly established a large following and subscribers in many countries, including British India, England, Bahrain, Egypt, Nigeria, South Africa, and Saudi Arabia. Al-Islah played a key role in spreading Allama Mashriqi and the Khaksar Tehrik’s ideology and helped Mashriqi to grow a well-disciplined, private army (as it was referred to by one of the Viceroys of India) of 5 million. In addition, Al-Islah inspired other Muslim as well as non-Muslim organizations to follow the Khaksar Tehrik and form similar organizations.   Al-Islah depicts the role of Mashriqi and his Khaksar Tehrik towards the freedom of British India. This publication is an important addition to the historiography of South Asia and is a crucial resource for properly understanding the freedom movement of the Indian sub-continent and the emergence of Pakistan and India in 1947. The newspaper is a great resource for academics, students, researchers, authors, think tanks and anyone interested in South Asian history.   For additional information, see the article entitled: Khaksar Movement Weekly “Al-Islah’s” Role Toward Freedom (published in Pakistaniaat, a peer-reviewed academic journal) https://www.facebook.com/ALIslah1934 Historic photos of the Khaksar Movement in British India: https://www.facebook.com/Khaksar.Move...
