Description:Excerpt from The True Church of England-Man's Companion in the Closet, or a Complete Manual of Private Devotions: Collected From the Writings of Archbishop Laud, Bishop Andrewes, Bishop Ken, Dr. Hickes, Mr. Kettlewell, Mr. Spinckes, and Other Eminent Divines of the Church of England On these notices Blackbourne remarks, that they 'may appear as minutia to narrow and undisciplined souls, but they discover an infancy under the reins of discretion, and the power of religion; for if these deliverances had not made a lasting impression on him in his childhood, they scarce would have been recollected when he arrived at man's estate.' Several other instances are given in the Life. In 1682, he notices that he was in imminent danger in a carriage: in 1704, [oct.
