He is also an Exo-Suit specialist. Of note is the circumstances regarding the Betrayal level. While not obvious at the start, it is later found out that the story Major McCain is given, is that a convict escaped, and killed Harrison. How exactly this information was presented to the Major, and how he took it, is unknown. Also, based on this, one would think that when the Marines and McCain are in the Alien ship/Hive later in the game, they would mention this in some way. However, they act as if nothing had happened.
