The illustrations in the volume comprise 31 text figures and 49 full-page plates, 8 of the latter being colored. The portrait of Hon. Jonathan Prentiss Dolliver, distinguished as a Representative and afterwards as a Senator in Congress from Iowa, has been selected as a frontispiece. Because of the conspicuous services rendered to agriculture by Senator Dolliver during his public career, recently terminated by death, the selection will be appreciated by the friends of agriculture throughout the country.
