The tendency each year has been to write about what I have done as Attorney General or to stress the singular accomplishments of the Department. The unintended impression that these introductions might convey is that we in this office believe we are solely responsible for advancing the cause of truth and justice in the Commonwealth. The fact of the matter is that the hallmark of this office throughout my tenure has been working with others in the public interest. Throughout the office the Depart ment of the Attorney General is imbued with a sense of cooperation. We recognize that we are but one cog albeit an extremely important one in the machinery of government. This year as I near the end of my third term as Attorney General, I would like to use these pages to highlight our cooperative efforts to keep that machine running.
