Description:How far could you be pushed before the Saxon in you became awakened? Æsc a Saxon farmer in the 9th Century finds out how much he can tolerate before he unleashes his wrath. A proud Englishman wrote this book. Though, I believe those who are not of English descent can enjoy it, too. However, don’t expect the English people to be portrayed as they are by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) or Hollywood. My characters are based on men and women of ancient descent. The folk I knew as a child. People who still greeted each other with the Old English welcome ‘Ow Bist’. To our enemies, we are ‘pale and stale’ or ‘hideously white’. What we really are is Anglo-Saxon. We hate no one but have just as much right to be proud of our heritage as any one else. So, sit back, pour yourself a pint of good English ale and let me tell you a tale. This is the story of great English warriors, men and women who stood against the Vikinger. My book is based on the poem ‘Wrath of the Awakened Saxon’ (Rudyard Kipling). I hope, if my writing achieves nothing else, that it might inspire some people to read more of Kipling’s insightful and moving prose and poetry. Without further ado, let me introduce the damned: • Æsc: A Saxon farmer who turns on the Vikinger after they rape and kill his sister. Some people call him a “Dark Angel”. The Vikinger called him the ‘Orc’. • Aldhelm: A Saxon, Æsc’s cousin who joins the King of Wessex rather than bow to the Vikinger. He likes a scrap, which is good he is heading for a few. • Alwalda: An Angle monk who renounced Christianity after being abused by the Vikinger. He is a fearsome warrior of Woden. When he isn’t pissed. • Brithwold: An Angle and a renowned housecarl. He had once been Reeve of the West Valley. An old warrior not content to fade away he was going down in a blaze of glory. There could be no doubt of that. • Bron: A Welsh blacksmith, and friend of Æsc, of course the only reason why he is fighting with Englisher is to get a reward of two dray horses? • Ceolwulf: An Angle, a housecarl of the Mercian king and highly skilled swordsman. He is as quick to take the piss out off his friends, as he is to stand by their side in battle. • Cildna: An Irish Nun who is saved by the damned from the Vikinger. After giving up on saving the damned from themselves she takes to magic mushrooms and goes with the flow. • Eldwin: A Saxon who left his people for the forest after they allowed his kinsman to be murdered by the Vikinger. He makes the transition from a family of millers to a group of killers. • Godric: An outlaw who joins Brithwold’s band. He is a man with a lot on his mind and a wolf’s skull upon his head. • Heorwulf the Holy: A devout Christian Angle who joined Brithwold and his warriors of the wood. Was it really Heorwulf who stole the mead? • Howel: A Welsh scout, a great tracker and bowman. He would panic if he spilt salt but he would charge the Vikinger with a spear quite happily. • Osgar: A slave outlawed and hunted by his people for killing his master. He finds common cause and a place in Brithwold’s band. A man who is as happy running with wolves as he is with people. • Softlad: An Angle from a good family destined to become a priest until the Vikinger arrive. He ends up joining Brithwold’s men, they help him to grow a pair of balls and kill Vikinger. • Wybert: A Saxon who had experienced a tough life, perhaps that is why is he such a tight bastard? • Wilda: Cousin of King Alfred and Æsc’s lover and soul mate.We have made it easy for you to find a PDF Ebooks without any digging.
