"Grandpapa is so kind to us; he says we are to him instead of his lost child, who is in heaven, and whom he cannot wish back again: that we are every thing to him, but he cannot be all to us that our mother could be - he is always so affected when he speaks of these things, and regrets that he cannot see to teach us every thing as he would wish, nor see us happy and merry as children should be; not me, I am sure.
