Description:Frederick is on his way to another exciting adventure, where will he wake up this morning? Today he woke up in Belize, a small country located on the northeastern cost of Central America. Since he does not know anything about this area, he must look for friends.Frederick meets K'ayab, a young Mayan boy, who informs him he is on the beach of St. George's Caye Resort, on the tiny island of St. George’s Caye about ten miles off the coast of Belize City. Frederick always asks lots of questions as that is the only way he will learn. In the 1700's this tiny island was originally the capital of the country that has since become Belize.Life is very simple on this island with no cars, electricity or even restaurants. Many people like to vacation on this island because it is relaxing. K’ayab’s parents work at ECOMAR, a turtle conservation research center.Frederick learns that people of mixed races like mestizo, Creole and Garinagu all live happily together in Belize; a nice place to live and where a person’s skin color means nothing. The people are nice, the weather is great and they have cool animals and pirates and ruins.Frederick also meets Hayá, a Garinagu girl whose name means "she smiles" in Garifuna. Her father runs a scuba diving boat at the resort on the island. Frederick learns that many people enjoy the good stuff from the ocean, like seafood and tropical fish for their own aquariums, but usually return trash and bad things into the ocean.Frederick and his friends release two rescued sea turtles back into the sea. Scientists attach satellite tags on the turtles so that they and school children can follow the journey as they migrate back to the ocean.Once the turtles go back into the sea, Frederick realizes that his adventure is about to end and he will be saying goodbye to his friends.
