Description:Just about every great rock group of the classic era is represented in this extraordinary document of the late '70s, drawn with passion by a Los Angeles grade-schooler. Daniel Weizmann was born in Ashqelon, Israel during the Six Day War in the Summer of Love. The son of a Moroccan sailor and a Coney Island beatnik, he moved to Hollywood at the age of one along with his much older half-brother Moshe. As Daniel later wrote in the memoir Black and White Zenith, "My father's blue Dodge Dart Swinger blared the hits on KHJ and 10Q in mono, and everywhere the billboards were bright with the magic of this rocking new world." When brother Moshe left home and left behind his record collection, Daniel's feverish attempt to recreate the history of rock in sketches began. The drawings were made over a three-year period, and reflect what may be Anglo pop music's wildest mood swing-from stadium rock tinged with a child's fantasy nostalgia for the Sixties... to the Rod Serling-inspired plasticity of paleo-modernist New Wave. This evolution was, at the time, mostly invisible-especially to a kid doodling after school-but the general air of excitement and change permeates. Clearly, it mattered where rock music was heading on the schoolyard back then. Speculating without conviction, Daniel threw in everything and the kitchen sink that could be definitely called "rock." Strangely, A History of Rock was Weizmann's final foray into the world of visual art. Upon near-completion (he didn't finish coloring in all the drawings) he put away his Crayola pencils and stashed the notebook in a cardboard box where it remained for almost forty years. We have made it easy for you to find a PDF Ebooks without any digging.
