Description:The story follows 10 year old Paul as he leaves everything behind in Melbourne for the outback, tropical Broome. His mother has found work there as well subsidized housing so his father, who is an author, he and his dog, Lassie, have to pack up the house and fly north-west. Paul finds the heat a bit much at first and takes it easy walking his dog. He is soon enrolled at Roebuck primary school and becomes good friends with a new mate, Marcus. He is in the Scouts and Paul joins up after his father emails them. We go on a few meetings with them and learn a bit about the scouts. Paul also joins the local tennis club and is given a practice tennis set for his 11th birthday so he can improve his hit rate and strengthen his wrist.
