Description:"تعدد هويات حضارتنا المصرية قد يغمر العقول والثقافات المختلفة.. من خلال تلك المسابقة، اكتشفت معانٍ جديدة لتلك الأماكن التي هي دوما جزء منا.. وكثيرا ما ترمز أسماء الشخصيات حولنا إلي معانٍ أعمق، فما بال تاريخ الأماكن وصخورها والأشخاص الذين عاشوا ومروا بها علي مر العصور؟"- محمود منسي مؤسس مسابقة مكانهذا كتاب من 18 عملا مختلفا فائزا في مسابقة للقصص القصيرة هي مسابقة "مكان" الأدبية. تم اختيارهم من بين 92 عملا مقدما كتبت عن: قلعة قايتباي، قصر البارون، وحي الحسين. يتكون الكتاب من تسعة قصص باللغة الإنجليزية، وتسعة قصص باللغة العربية، وتم إعلان نشره رسميا في يوم الخامس من فبراير لعام 2014، تحديدا في تمام الساعة الرابعة عصرا في حفل توزيع الجوائز الذي أقيم في مهرجان القاهرة الدولي للكتاب.فكرة المشروع هي حث الكتاب علي العثور علي الإلهام في أماكن أو مباني في مدنهم عن طريق تأليف قصص قصيرة عن المكان مستخدمين جزءا من تاريخه وحقائقه كخلفية أو إلهام.أسس هذه الجائزة الكاتب السكندري محمود منسي عن طريق المؤسسة التي يرؤسها (مؤسسة الكتاب المنسيين) بالتعاون مع مكتبة ديوان ودار كيان للنشر والتوزيع. محمد جميل - أحد مؤسسي دار كيان - هو من اقترح فكرة تسمية المسابقة بإسم "مكان".أقيمت هذه المسابقة لأسباب مختلفة:1. هي طريقة غير مباشرة لجذب السياحة.2. هي طريقة لإضفاء الحياة علي هذه الأماكن باستخدام القلم والورقة بدلا من عدسة الكاميرا.3. هي طريقة لخلق أفكار جديدة وأدب جديد.4. وهي طريقة لإظهار هذه الأماكن للقارئ وإظهار سحرها."The diverse identity of our multicultural Egypt may flood many minds and cultures. From this writing competition, I've discovered new meanings to these places which are always a part of us. Many times, we find the names around us playing a role of symbolism and metaphors, so imagine how it is for the places' history, rocks, and people who lived or passed by them along eras."- Mahmoud Mansi, Founder of Makan awardThis is a Book of 18 distinctive Award Winning Short Stories chosen from 92 stories written about: The Qayetbay Castle, The Baron Palace, and El-Hussein Neighborhood. The book is entitled under the "MAKAN Writing Award". It consists of 9 English Stories, and 9 Arabic Stories, and it was launched on the 5th of February, 2014, at exactly 4 o'clock where the Award Ceremony took place at the Cairo International Book Fair."Makan" means "Place" in Arabic, and the idea of this project is to help writers get inspired by places/buildings in their own cities by writing fictional short stories about the place, where one can use history and facts as backgrounds or a muses.The Award was founded by Alexandrian writer Mahmoud Mansi and was launched through his initiative: The Forgotten Writers Foundation, in partnership with Diwan Bookstores & Kayan Publishing House. Mohamed Gameel, one of the co-founders of Kayan Publishing House, is the one who gave the competition its title, "MAKAN".The MAKAN competition is created for several reasons:1. It's a way of applying indirect tourism.2. A way of giving life to such places through the pen, instead of only the camera.3. A way of creating new ideas and new literature.4.
