Description:Dangerous Companions is the third book in a series of historical fiction about two brothers, their families and friends in the first part of the 11th century in medieval Normandy. Harald and Robert Fitzroy are companions of the Duke of Normandie who quarrelled and parted as a result of the latter’s scheming. Elder brother Robert becomes the Duke’s Chancellor while Harald is an important military leader in southern Italy. Trouble is coming in the north as the covetous King Henri of France tries to unseat Duke William and Normandy is in a constant state of siege. Unless reinforcements arrive the Duchy looks doomed and papal condemnation confounds all chances of building new alliances. The only chance of deliverance is if Harald Fitzroy can be convinced to return with his army and the brothers bury their differences. Duke William, unwilling to drop all ‘outlaw’ charges against Harald, finds he needs to make a difficult decision if he is to survive.The main protagonists of Dangerous Companions, Harald and Robert Fitzroy, are fictional characters but most of the other characters are real.
