Description:Up until about 1960, Ibiza belonged to the Ibizans, and only a few artists, poets and writers lived in this paradise. In the 60s the flower-children arrived, the hippies and drop-outs. Then came mass tourism, bars, discos and a 'bad press'. Don't believe it! There is an unending wealth of hidden beauty spots to be discovered, from delightful walks along the coast (where you can swim in inviting coves), to inland routes where the countryside has changed very little over the generations. The island's tourist board is encouraging walkers to visit and has recently waymarked several of the island's best walks. Formentera is just a 20 minute boat journey from Ibiza Town. Go for a day or stay for a week, to really explore this small island (where, by the way, the way to get around is by bicycle there are cycle hire points everywhere). "We cannot believe how lucky we on our way to Manchester airport we called at our library and there in the 'new in today' shelf was Landscapes of Ibiza. Being able to take this book with us really enabled us to put the finishing touches on our holiday. (We had two other books which were quite ordinary.)
