Description:Out the Window and Down the Stairs is a light-hearted fantasy. It tells the story of Margie Woods, a lonely medical records clerk. She rents a two-story house with an upstairs bedroom which has stairs going down to the street. The first night she sleeps there, a pirate knocks on her window in the middle of the night and invites her on an adventure. She takes a minute to make sure she isn’t dreaming. Then she goes out the window and down the stairs with the rogue. She crosses over from Reality to Fable. There she fights a sea battle, and returns home on the back of a crogagator. She is warned that if she spends more than two days in Fable it will be impossible for her to return home. In the second chapter she wins a contest between the warring gypsy tribes and becomes Queen of the Gypsies. But when she returns home, her employer calls her into his office for missing work.With each new chapter, her power and influence in Fable grows, while her stress and frustration at home increases. She outwits her opponents in Fable, or teaches them to cooperate to solve rivalries.Ultimately Margie must choose between Reality and Fable. Is she losing her mind and hallucinating, or are there separate realms with different rules but equal validity? If she stays in Fable her choice may be irrevocable.
