It is during this time of wonder that Benjamin buys her a canvas and some paints to occupy her time and Mary discovers a love for painting. Each member of the Turner family becomes lost in their own worlds while the town continues below the house on the cliffs. Mary spends day after day painting for years but the urge to leave the house once again overwhelms her and this time, the young woman gives in to it, to dire consequences.
