They say--" There is a scar on your finger, it was very likely cut when you were three years old; you had not that finger then, the skin has been changed again and again, but the scar always remains." Well, sir, all the pain is there yet. The scar was formed because the fibres of the skm and flesh did not join in the right way. There is now always a scar. It is not always the same scar; nevertheless there is in it all the feeling of pain you had at the time of the wound being made; it is all there yet, sir--all reposing in the scar. Some one struck you over the scar when you were nine years old, and caused you great pain. AH that pain is still in the scar, as well as all the sensations you ever had m connection with it." That would have been a more analogous kind of argument, and yet it would be simple nonsense. I often forget that I have a finger for hours together. You cannot liken such things as scars, the bark of trees, and so forth, to willing, thinking, judging, and reflecting. It is impossible. I think I have perfectly clear discoveries of my own spirit...We have made it easy for you to find a PDF Ebooks without any digging.
