My ambition was high and I knew that Temple would fulfill it; well, actually I thought any university would fulfill my desires of a higher education—just because. Today, I look back at Temple as the best four years of my life. Not because it was a college experience, but because of something I was lucky enough to learn early in the to take in everything that a college has to offer, and at Temple, I was offered a lot.Founded in 1884, Temple University is now the 36th largest university in America, and it also has the fourth largest professional program in the country. Recently, the school administration has undertaken a huge renovation of the campus, adding new dorms, movie theaters, and other facilities to expand and enhance the experience and opportunities for the students. Spirit runs high in support of the Hooters, or Owls, and when running around on campus, you’ll be sure to see students showing off their Cherry and White colors. If the school doesn’t offer students enough, then Philly tends to cover anything it’s missing.When I first heard of Temple, I crossed it off my list without hesitation because I thought it was a religiously-affiliated school. At the beginning I had a ‘the world is my oyster’ mentality, but don’t get me wrong, choosing a college is something to be taken very seriously. After doing my homework on different colleges and coming closer to my final four, I chose Temple because it was close to my home state, was located in a big city, and didn’t have any religious affiliations.But the question is Temple the school for you? I want to help you make that decision. I want to tell you of the good, the bad, and the ugly of it all. I actually chose a college based on the things that didn’t really matter, but I was fortunate to choose a college that worked for me.
