The Book of Enoch is however regarded as canonical by the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church and Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church, but not by any other Christian group. Robert Henry Charles, known more widely as R.H. Charles was an Irish biblical scholar and theologian. He is known particularly for English translations of apocryphal and pseudepigraphal works, and editions including Jubilees and the Book of Enoch, and the Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs. R.H. Charles' work is considered by many to be wisdom literature and much of his work is used as bible study & refernce tools. R.H. Charles was born in Cookstown, Co. Tyrone, on August 6th, 1855 and educated at Belfast Academy, Queen's College, Belfast and Trinity College, Dublin, with periods in Germany and Switzerland. He gained a D.D. and became Professor of Biblical Greek at Trinity College.
