The Illustrated Spiritual Guide & The Persecution of Michael Molinos, A Biography of Michael Molinos, & A Treatise Condeming Erros of Miguel de Molinos

Michael Molinos
4.9/5 (33827 ratings)
Description:ReviewMany years ago, when I was in my spiritual wilderness in my ministry, I came across this The Spiritual Guide written by Michael Molinos, a medieval Catholic priest. At the bottom of the cover, it “Anyone found in possession of this book will be excommunicated.” Papal Decree 1687.It causes me to wonder the long trodden path of many spiritual masters who had conquered and was triumphant in their faith, but they were never valued in their times, only to be met with excommunication. This Kindle edition is the complete version of the 1685 English edition. We have clean up the text for easy reading. This version is much better than other copies on the internet which has a lot of OCR problems with a lot of words in capitalization. The English may be out of date but it does not obstruct the message which comes out loud and clear, a very needed message for our present generation. Also this Special Edition contains 3 additional important essays.1. The Persecution of Michael Molinos1. The Biography of Miguel de Molinos.2. CONDEMNING THE ERRORS OF MIGUEL DE MOLINOSThis is written by Pastor Coelestis in the Apostolic Constitution of Pope Innocent XI issued November 20, 1687Michael Molinos came closer to reforming the Catholic Church than any other single man in history, yet he ended up in a dungeon with his book condemned. A man so controversial that even until today the Vatican will not release the transcript of his (secret) trial. Now for the first time ever, this book appears in modern English. The first Enlgish language release in over a hundred years.Included in the book is the first biography of Michael Molinos to appear in English in over 100 years.Product DescriptionMiguel de Molinos (1628–1697) is a fascinating figure, a pious 17th Century mystic and the founder of Quietism. Molinos says that true spirituality consists in passive reflection of God and a withdrawal from the world. He interacted with many Christian fathers in his time and often citing their work. His main focus is to encourage Christian believers to conform their lives to do the will of God. Molinos claims that Christians should take communion every day for their spiritual benefit. So, as time went on, his teachings in Quietism were condemned and as a result, he was put in jail. Nevertheless, his teachings in his book “Spiritual Guide’ were widely circulated even though this is a controversial work. Down through the centuries, many believers have found Molinos’ spiritual food enlightening and helpful. It was "So powerful was its influence on Europe that within 6 years of its release this book had been translated into every language in Western Europe. In Naples, Italy it was said that 20,000 Christians gathered in small groups to practice inward prayer. Michael Molinos came closer to reforming the Catholic Church than any other single man in history, yet he ended up sealed in a dungeon, his book condemned.
