Description:Rendez-vous chez les Francophones is a basic reader that presents the diverse cultures of the various French-speaking countries in which the chapters are set. This reader may be begun as early as six weeks after the beginning of the first year. The readings acquaint students with the language, daily habits, mores, and traditions of the different cultures. It is written exclusively in the present tense in the first six chapters. The passé composé with avoir first appears in chapter 7, the passé composé with être, in chapter 8, the future tense in chapter 8, the imperfect in chapter 9. The vocabulary includes approximately one thousand words, at least twenty-five per cent of which are cognates; a few new words and expressions which occur only once are footnoted.
